OOO.... sooo many good ones...

For Bands...
NobodyKnows+ (The best! They sing "Hero's Come Back")
Home Made Kazoku (Also VERY good, a popular song is "Nagareboshi~shooting star~")
Bump of Chicken (Weird title yes, but they are good)
L~arn~en~ceil (might have spelled that wrong, they are well known for full metal alchemist)

For singers...
Rie Tanaka (AKA Lacus Clyne)
Utada Hikaru
Nami Tamaki

ooo... there are just so many good ones... *can't list them all*

Hyde, L'arc~en~ciel, The Gazette, AnCafe, Malice Mizer.. That's rock.

Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru for pop..

OMG! I'm a multi-lingual singer. I'm not famous but you could say i'm a bit proffessional. I can sing in english, japanese, latin, and french. The best thing you should do is learn the language and then sing in it. i would recomend looking in www.youtube.com for songs. just type in japanese songs on the search page.

Utada Hikaru, she is really famous in japan, and has 1 english album out. She also has some good meaining behind some of her songs.

the first answerer gave some of the bands i love!
but also arashi, alice nine, dir en grey, ken hirai, ai otsuka, miyavi(my avatar), orange range, 10 feet. those are all either jrock or jpop. :)
utada hikaru has one really pretty voice. :)

Eri Sugai (check her albums Mai & Kaori!)
Stella Mirus (a group)
Eri Kawai
