I think old rock (Led Zep, Black Sabbath, AC/DC etc.) kicks ***! It's always good to become familiar with the rock bands of the various decades. Instruments of music are the the focus of Rock in my opinion. You have to be a good musician to Rock! You can see what bands today are influenced by bands of the past. Motown was a big part of the past too. You can find a wide range of vocal talent there. Nowadays it's hard to find true talent. With Rap and R&B just a few clicks of a keyboard away from being hits, you lose the ability to hear real talented musicians. I like old school rap though because those guys were inovative at the time. I listen to everything though. Have fun with your music!
