Which type of guitar strings are easiest to play?!

Question: when i bought my guitar the strings were very flexible and the thing was so easy to play , fretting the strings was like a knife through hot butter.
when i replaced them i found the new ones were much stiffer and harder , i took for granted that i had strings that i liked and i have no idea what they were , they came stocked on a les paul epiphone from guitar center.
the best i have found so far is the thinnest gauge of D'adario , but to be honest they don't feel like whatever it is i had that i liked so much.
Do any of you know a brand of strings that is light and super flexible, sound quality is not an issue i just want to be able to shred.
thanks

try Earnie Ball

I also used to play d'Addario and they are really stiffer than those

Sounds like you got some 10's when you were used to 9's. D'Addario strings are world class, but they, as well as others come in many gauges. Strings come in gauges as light as 8's, but strings of this nature are so light, just grabbing a barre chord can bend the strings. Try either D'Addario or Ernie Ball in 0.090" gauge for that feeling.

smoke on the water isn't a hard song to play.

i would assume a gibson would have had gibson strings
from the factory.sounds as if you more interested in the guage than the brand.if you go less than a 9 , your gonna sacrifice tone. if you go more than a 10,they gonna get hard to bend.however steveie ray vaughn would ben on a set of 13 !
i prefer the GHS Boomers, 10 guage, but im a country picker.
i l ike Elixer on my acoustics

D'Addario and Ernie Ball are the best there are, although I think Ernie Ball are slightly better. If you need to shred then get their thinnest gauge: 9's These are the thinnest there are. Although I would recommend to practice using 10's as I feel they sound much better than 9's.
