Aretha Franklin slams Beyonce Grammy introduction. What do you think?!

Question: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080213...

In Knowles' intro to Turner's performance, she name-dropped Franklin and a long list of famed female singers.: ("There is one legend who has the essence of all of those things: the glamour, the soul, the passion, the strength, the talent," said Knowles, strutting in hot pants. "Ladies and gentlemen. Stand on your feet and give it up for the queen.")

Who is she kidding? There is only one Queen of Soul!

Aretha Franklin !!!

Tina is a Rock Goddess and singing legend. But she isn't the Queen of Soul.

At a party later that night, Knowles called Turner her "ultimate icon."

That's ok. She has her favorites and I have mine and I'm sure you have yours too. She is dead wrong. Much love to Miss Beyonce but she has a long way to go to be in the same class as either one of these glorious women. She wouldn't be here but for those who came before her so give credit where it's due. What do you think?

That's sad, especially for a African-American woman, because everyone knows that Aretha is the "Queen of Soul"; Tina Turner is known for rock however it ain't that damn crucial!

I honestly don't see any harm in it. It was a tribute to Tina Turner and come on just because someone says the Queen doesn't necessarily mean Aretha Franklins name should be mentioned in it. You can argue other should have the title the queen of soul but one thing for sure Tina is the Queen of Rock. It wasn't even out of disrespect to her it was a hyped intro for Tina Turner who's been retired for 8 yrs to make her first performance at the Grammys...plus Beyonce didn't even right it she was just reciting what the writers wrote. Tina is Beyonce icon and to her Tina may be the Ultimate Icon she is a legend from the abuse she went through and was stripped of everything except for her name and yet she still stands on the stage a successful black woman that others admire

kinda low for aretha franklin... she should know that the likely hood that beyonce wrote that was probably slim to none. Beyonce's preformance style is more like tina's than Aretha's ( performance vs. pure vocial ability )- so if she did say that Tina is her ultimate icon- it kinda makes sense.

Plus, She is Aretha freakin' Franklin - who cares what beyonce thinks ? eagles shouldn't hunt flies...

Are you serious?!?!?! Soldiers are getting killed, babies getting thrown off of bridges, and this woman is mad b/c someone called another woman Queen. OMFG!!! Get a life. All B was doing was giving respect to Tina. What if B thinks of her as the Queen. What if B thinks of Aretha as the Queen also. But she called Tina the Queen b/c she was introducing her!!!! So now, is Tina wrong to get mad if she feels offended by Aretha saying she is not of the same caliber. Does Aretha get paid for being called the Queen? Has she patented the name Queen? I don't thik so. So if anyone sees Aretha, tell her to get off her high horse and chill the h*** out.

-What a way to celebrate Black History Month. Good Job Aretha

Dude............................ Is It Really That Freakin Serious?????????????

Cry A River, Build A Bridge And Get Over It. Aretha Franklin Is Grown (WAY GROWN) And She Shouldnt Let Comments Like That Get 2 Her.

*LMFAO* I UNDERSTAND U ASKED US WHAT WE THOUGHT..........., BUT U NEED 2 UNDERSTAND THIS............. WE GAVE U OUR OPINION. SOOOOO WHY ARE U GETTIN ALL DEFENSIVE, ON OUR OPINIONS, ON A QUESTION THAT U ASKED?? U NEED 2 NOT TAKE IT PERSONAL. STOP GETTIN CAUGHT UP IN ALL THIS "CELEBRITY HYPE" AND WORRY ABOUT THE REAL WORLD.

Um, let me tell you something. Aretha is the one who has no class coming down on some girl young enough to be her granddaughter. Hasn't she gotten enough awards and praise? Must she chase down everyone who has a slip of the tongue and doesn't put her at number one? I've went to school with black females and all too many are way too nasty and quick tempered with one another and are always bleating on and on about respect when a large number of them do not know the meaning of the word. It's your opinion that she has not given credit where it is due. If she prefers Tina Turner then fine. What probably happened though is that she had a slip of the tongue when put on the spot with the camera on her. That is all and even if she preferred some other entertainer like Ozzy Osbourne (I'm getting way outlandish here but that's just an example), that is still her right and her business. The whole purpose of life is to leave something for those that come after (and no, "something" does not include guilt trips).

I've worked and went to school with blacks and lived in black neighborhoods and I've noticed something. Once you are no longer dirt poor, blacks think that their own people owe them something. They layer on the guilt. African Immigrants have moved here from Nigeria and Cameroon and speak better English and have better manners and are more industrious, hardworking and just more pleasant to be around than the ones who were born here. Do you want to know why? They don't play the blame game, they work. They don't spend time on stupid stuff that doesn't matter like "omg who's the better singer" and "omg you said she's better than me" and all kinds of petty mess like that. They don't start trouble all of the time...they are too busy starting businesses and studying. They grow up which is something certain old washed up whales (no names or anything) have yet to do.

Everyone wants to find a damn reason to attack Beyonce damn.It was a introduction and I hardly think Beyonce meant any harm.Plus I like Tina better & it was her night to shine not Aretha. She needs to get over herslef.

Aretha shot herself in the foot we all know she is the queen of soul just like James brown was the godfather of soul but Tina turner does deserves to be queen of something Aretha can't have it all i mean did you see Tina she still can put on a show after all these years Aretha can't do what Tina did I'm just saying
