How do I shred like 80's guitarists?!
Question: Hey again guys,
Those guys back then man I tell ya, they were awesome ! I wish I was around then to see 'em.
I wanna play like 'em but what should I learn ? What types of scales should I learn? What else
Thanks everyone

DON'T!! Play like Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Beck, and David Gilmore.
But if you feel you reaaly must, then invest in some instructional DVDs by guys like Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, and Marty Friedman. Practice slowly, with a metronome, at low volume, so you can hear your mistakes. Then speed it up as you master the runs. Listen to the players I mention, also check out Micheal Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, and Ritchie Blackmore to hear fast playing with FEEL and MELODY and EMOTION. And practice every second you can. I used to sit in front of the TV with my guitar unplugged and unconsiously do fingering exercises and scales while I watched the tube. Jam with people. Develop your ear by learning off records, not just tabs. Learn another instrument as well, especially piano- it will help develop your musicality.
go to guitartricks.com and sign up....$10 a month i think but thats how i started and now im a beast on my g-tar
Learn A7X and you'll be able to be amazing or atleast i would think you are
Practice, anything that is more picked out, not chords, the riffs back then were so awesome.
well, practice duh!! most scales would be helpful, even if you never use them in a song, you'll be able to move your fingers a lot faster, and stretch them a lot further. as for songs, obviously learn songs that are good examples of what you want to play like, when you're good enough.... until then, you'll want to work more on songs with like lots of individual notes, rather than chords.
right equiptment has a lot to do with it. of course the practice
too is important. as far as scales, learn mixalodian, major, minor, pentatonic. that pretty much covers it. go to
www.guitartricks.com that has ben helpful to me in the passed.
