i learned this in english today..someone presented it in front of the class i think its about this guy and he has a friend and he wants his friend to be with him all the time so he doesnt have to go into the dark allone..yea i wasnt paying attetion maybe look it up on google lol
I think its like he will follow the girl or someone into uncharted territory to do something different than everyone else.

I think it's about doubting belief in a higher power, but believing in love. The person in the song is saying, it doesn't matter what's after this life...I'm following you (not sure if it's literally or figuratively as in my love will follow you) into whatever's next...even though I don't know what that is.
Essentially, it is about standing by someone (most likely one who you are in a committed relationship with) even when there isn't certainty in the outcome of a situation or the path you are following.
