Should I buy this guitar?!

Question: I used to play, but it's been about 8 years since I gave it up. When I did play, I had an American strat... and I had it about 4 years. Always wonder why I sold it.... stupid me. Anyway, I'm looking at getting back into it, and I really want to get something different/unique.

I decided that I want a Jackson KE3, because the design is really cool, and I like how it comes with the Seymour Duncan pickups and is designed for faster riffs. I found one at Sam Ash near my house but it's used. It's missing the cover on the back where you would fish the strings through, asnd it looked pretty dusty inside. They were asking $450 for it used, and it's got the Crimson swirl (red) color. That color reatils for about $799, so I'd save $350 buying it used. I'm just not really sure what questions I should ask and what I should look for to make the decision. I don't want to spend $450 if it could be damaged. Do you think I should get it? Any advice at all would be very helpful.. Thanks!!

it sounds ok to me, i would test it out in the shop for sure before buying, basically if it gives you the sound you want for the cash, get it. Make sure to test the volume and tone toggles for each pick-up, when its plugged into an amp, play it then shake the guitar and the lead/cable, play it again, make sure nothing is loose. The dust isnt a problem, get the guys in the shop to do a cleaning job for you, it will be free if you are definatly buying. I would also have a look on the net for a back plate.
One thing about Jacksons that puts off UK buyers is that it can be hard to get spare parts, i dont know whether this is an issue in the US, that is one question i would ask mate.
EDIT : i have just realised the KE3 has a floyd rose tremelo, i used to have an ibanez with the same set-up, absolute nightmare to tune/de-tune/change strings, if you are playing in one tuning only it is perfect, however if you are planning on dropping to E flat/D quite often for example, i would not get a guitar with a floyd rose

if you want it you should get it.

the only advice i have for you is play it before you buy it
because even if it looks awesome and somebody you know may have the same guitar each neck is made differently no matter what so deffinatly play the guitar before you buy it and see how you like it

If your really into playing then you should DEFINETLY get it!!!
the longer you wait the worse your skills can get.....trust me if i'd waited any longer i'd never be able to play on my piano like i do

don't buy a used guitar i did once and a string broke b4 i got home

Guitars are fairly simple and not hard to get fixed.
Look it over good , play it , make sure pickup switches an volume controls work. Back plate should be an easy fix assuming you can use a small phillips head screw driver.
Allparts or ebay should have a backplate for a few bucks.

Also push these guys hard on price used guitars are everywhere offer 325 in hopes of eventually getting it out the
door for 375 to 400 with tax
