Girls who play guitar... and are good at it!!?!
Question: What do ya think of them? I mean... if you're a guy yourself and play...?
I've been playing since i was 10, i'm female... and i play alot of heavy metal, shred, neo-classical music.... and yes,i play better than all the guys at college (not being mean saying that, i'm just more experienced and can shred faster than they can lol) yet they seem to want me in their bands less.... and i don't know, is it because of the fact i'm a GIRL???
I feel a bit left out sometimes because of it.
Saying that i am the only girl there that plays.
So would do you say to girls who play guitar?

I believe that girls are still not given permission to (and are often socially punished if they do) fully express themselves. Rock N Roll is still mostly a boys' club, especially if you want to play drums or lead guitar (girls are supposed to be the singers and the keyboard player). There are great female musicians of all instruments, but there are still gender expectations in music. (Try being a boy who plays the flute or the harp)
So, I say play that guitar and turn up the amp! Write songs that tell your truths. Be brave and loud, and most of all, be yourself.
Also, look up the GIRLS ROCK the movie...it's a new documentary film about THE ROCK N ROLL CAMP FOR GIRLS in Portland, Oregon. The movie opens March 7th in theaters.

I am a girl...but I say that you kick @ss and they are just intimidated and/or jealous...
I would prefer them over girls who would rather try to sing some gayish pop song.
If I had known you though, I would want you in my rock band especially if you are really as good as you say you are. The more talent a rock band has, the better.
Keep it up because trust me, there are a lot of guys out there who are really attracted to female rockers. You just haven't found those types of guys yet.

I play guitar and I say be as awesome at it as you can and don't stop playing because you are a girl. Yes it most likely is, even if you are better than them. Guys can't accept the fact that we rock!

i would love a girl to play in my band, but i am a girl. and there are no other girls that play good around where i live. but if there were, i would probably consider them to play just as i would any guy. i would give them the same oppertunity at least.
I think it would be cool to have a killer female guitar player in my band. I think the guys who are already guitar players in the bands dont want to be beaten out by a girl so they leave you out.

I think girls can do ALMOST anything boys can do. If they set their mind to it they certainly can. I have heard a bunch of girls play guitar, they were really good. So good for you for being the only one.

I'm a girl and I play guitar too, my friends (they are girls too) and I are thinking about starting a band, but seeing as i'm the only one that has an instrument, let along plays one, that might not work, but female lead singers are quite popular... maybe you should try that out
Band stuff is more of a male macho cool thing - to impress girls. They will be intimidated if you are good at your instrument. Its quite unique for girls to have that sort of skill so it might **** on the guys in the band..
I'm a girl who plays guitar, admittedly I kinda suck. I'm more of a rhythm player, not much shredding. We should make a band, haha. None of my friends wanna.
And yes, guys don't like it when girls can play guitar better than them, its kinda funny. I was at a friends house once, and i was playing some chords on a nylon string guitar, and some guy there was so amazed i could play... And i was thinking, ...uh...ok, its only a barre chord..... i think that they just dont expect it.
If they can play and are not trying to be an image, I say ROCK ON!
If Jennifer Batten wanted to join my band, I'd be a fool to say no. If there are men out who have a problem with it, is because of their own short-coming. I personally am a crappy guitarist and could never criticize others.
im a girl and i play guitar too and love it infact in highschool when i was a freshman our school had this talent show and these four guys were doing an AC/DC coverband and i was the best guitarist they knew so instead of Angus Young I was Agnes Young it was awsome i had a female cut uniform but totally they're just jealous guys seem to not get it girls can Rock just as hard if not harder than guys so keep on Rockin!!!! All you Female Guitarist Just keep on Rockin!!!!

im a girl and i play guitar, bass and drums, im defiantly not a great guitar player but im a good bass player especially because i have good rhythm so for the most part people want me in the bands. But who cares, its still fun to show off. lol.
Honey, I've been playing for over 42 years now. The advantage to that is that the ego and intimidation factors are all gone! If someone wants to play guitar, I say, "Let's jam!" And, on another note (pun intended) I have always thought that ANY female that has a mastery of their axe is downright awesome sexy. (no, I'm not hitting). Keep true to your talents and you will find like souls, not the immature posers you've come across already.
