Did Timbaland rip off One Republic?!

Question: I'm sure you all know that song "Apologize" that One Republic did. However, Timbaland did a remix with them and is taking most of the credit as the song is presented: "Apologize" - Timbaland presents One Republic.

Hold up! Who's song is it? Plus, I don't think the extra drums and "Eh ehs" do anything for the song. The original is so much better with the classical undertones. Timbaland, I thought you were cool! XP

well, it's onerepbulic's song. the reason i think onerepublic is ok with him taking a lot of credit is that he helped out the band a lot. the band was a myspace band and was unsigned as far as i know. timbaland signed them to his mosley label and i guess in return for this help, he remixed their main hit song for his shock value album. ryan tedder and timbaland seem like good friends, so the decision seems mutual.

anyway, you're right timbaland ripping off music, but not in this situation. he mainly steals from indian and middle eastern artists, though.

I know I think the same thing. But anything to get One Republic more publicity. I have their whole album and it is awesome.

Yeah, I always hated that. It says "Timbaland" and sort of hides One republic. I can't even HEAR Timbaland throughout the song, only barely. He didn't change much, I've heard the original.

I think that Timbaland helped One Republic get their name out to the public. Once it became popular, the DJ's stopped saying Timbaland presents One Republic and just said that it was by One Republic

Well he helped bring them into fame, before Timbaland who heard of One Republic?

All I have to say is, would you know who One Republic is if Timbaland hadn't put his name on "Apologize"?

i think if it wasn't for timbaland most people wouldn't know who they're.

I've heard both versions o the song. And i do agree that the original sounds WAAAAAAAY better than the new one but i guess timbaland just wanted to get OneRepublic into the mainstream and so at this time in music..anything with Timbaland or Akon is a sure hit.

I agree. The Timbaland version is annoying.

yes i know! the lead singer of one republic is my boyfriends brother, and they wrote that song together.... they aren't even connected with timbaland, its just one republic......what timbaland did for one republic is help them get on the air, nothing else... hope that helps you :) and I love One Republic ;)

aw cmon dont be like that :P he brought something different to the song, but theyre still doing good with their other song thats out.

timbaland just made them more mainstream and more "in" because of the recent super hype that timz has been getting.

everyone knows its a remix by Timbaland... One Republic was never popular in North America. Until Timbaland introduced one of their songs... now One Republic is popular here and they owe a big favour to Timbaland. No one was ripped off!

As I understand it, Timbaland released their song, covering One Republic's - and One Republic had to rush to release their own CD. Timbaland put them on the map - until then, they were adored only by myspace folks...

One Republic's CD is exceptional, I might add - and iTunes had it cheap two weeks ago. I've played it constantly... "Stop and Stare" is their new single (I think)...
