The Epiphones are imported. I believe they are a little lighter. The fit, finish and setup won't be quite as good as that of an American Gibson. They may require some fine-tuning by a pro for the best playability. The hardware and pickups are of lower quality. You'd probably be replacing the tuners and pickups before long for better tuning stability and sound... maybe the cheap plastic nut too... maybe even the bridge someday... pots, switches and wiring someday... That said, even after doing some work, the Epiphones are much less expensive and I'm not sure I'd pay what Gibson is asking these days. The Epiphone Standard is a really nice guitar with a few mods.

The Gibson Classic and Studio use 490R and 498T alnico pickups in the Studio... hotter, but slightly harsher 496R and 500T ceramics in the Classic. The Studio is a slightly "stripped down" version. The Standard uses the extremely versatile BurstBuckers most people prefer. There's a Faded Standard that uses BurstBuckers and a cheaper finish... There's a Standard with a '50s neck shape, a Standard with a '60's neck shape, a standard Standard... You really just have to play some Gibsons to find what feels right to you. You couldn't go too wrong with any of them. For that kind of cash, I'd hope not!!! The all around fit and finish... maybe the quality of the hardware probably improves slightly on the most expensive models.

The Classic does not use P90 single-coil pickups... so much for 40 years in the music bis...

Basically... in their stock form... the Studio will excel at playing cleans and classic rock distortion. The Classic can sound heavier, but a little harsh for clean and vintage sounds. The Standard with the BurstBuckers will do it all. Neck style you have to choose by what you like the feel of.

me wizard you human

All I know is that Epiphones are lighter but not as good quality wood, sustain, tone, etc.

Les Paul Standard is just a cheaper model Epiphone is like comparingFender Stat to Fender Squire

The Les Paul clasic has P90 pickups and have a brighter ,sharper tone where the Les Paul standard has humbucker pickuos and a mellower softer tone
