Why does it seem most religious people think Rock and Metal is satanic but music!

Question: Thats what I've always noticed between True Metalheads that wear offensive, immoral band shirts at times. And it always so happens that a very religious person will try to put a fight against them claiming that if they listen to Rock and Metal they will go to H*ll. But the bible doesn't mention anything about music being a sin.

And now I'm off to church. Lol.

Dark: the bible never mentioned music as sin, I read the bible, for interest. <I'm curious person by nature, after all I'm a geek> LOL. since Devil was a favorite God's angel who played violin, and after falling, God's just kicked him out of Eden garden

The problem is the people who interpret the Bible in their own interests. the bottom line those who claim that rock/metal music in general is satanic are just afraid to loose worshippers.

for example Psalms of King David <he was the first Jewish King> always supported by music.

yes, there are some bands who really worship Satana, but that is very rare occasions. most rock/metal bands members just don't believe in neither.

most religious dogmatics claimed that if it doesn't fit into bible teaching its means it Satanas music, which totally balloney

I haven't been to church in a while. Maybe I should go. Well to answer your question it's just because they see metal bands using satanic imagery and they just generalize. S neither of the bands you listed are metal.

I have no idea.

Just because some extreme black metal bands say they are satanist and thus it is generalized that all metal is Satanist.

Which is bull****.
I'm not Satanist or Christian.

it all boils down to the lyrics and the image the band is projecting

another reason I hate religion.....

I'm religious. But I listen to metal, Christian and non. It isn't like we're hurting anyone, ruining our bodies, or changing our morals. We just like it. I believe the people who stop us and tell us they'll pray for us are afraid of their own existence. I don't really care what the views of the bands are on religion, I don't have to believe what they do.

It's like the same thing with books. The Bible never says that reading was a sin, but some Christians are appalled by books that are about, you know, incest or murder or whatever. So I don't think they're talking about the music itself, they're talking about the content of the music.

But if they think the music is satanic purely based on the genre, then it's hard to say, because I guess some people will interpret religious texts completely differently. I mean, if you think about it, religious conservatives back in the 30's thought that swing dancing was satanic.

because, they don't understand. they think it surpasses the devil..i mean the looks...and styles.
people are very critical thses days.
i don't really understand, but i have family members like that, and i am the type that listens to the metal stuff and everything and they dont seem to mind, but when they see my friends dress like that it bothers them. i don't understand. =/

That is funny. I'm a Christian, and I know a lot of Christians, and very few of them think Rock and Metal is satanic. I happen to be a huge fan of Metallica, Black Sabbath, and a lot of punk bands, too. So I am afraid I don't really know. I think you're committing an act of stereotyping here. In any case, I agree with you! Nothing in the Bible against music. Heck, King David danced through the streets to music practically naked. So I am not sure what the hooplah is all about.

actually...according to my sister, in the bible it says music is a sin in general
lol

another reason I hate religion

metal is anti establishment and anti conformist ... and that contradicting with values of the church !!!

I wish I new. Most times when I ask people why the dislike rock music, they thinks its all screaming/shouting, piercings, tatoos, mosh pits, headbanging, and dyed hair.

My dad calls my music 'devil music'...even though he has never heard any of the songs I listen to...Does anyone consider Breaking Benjamin, Armor for Sleep, Envy on the Coast, Mayday Parade, or the Spill Canvas the work of the devil?

I know quite a few Satanists, and they listen to more than metal and goth. I think its a silly stereotype.

It seems you are asking for a logical answer to something that is more about faith than logic. I would say the early Rock 'n' Roll (1950s) was called the "Devils Music" because the religious authorities saw young kids losing themslves, dancing, dating, and havng a good time to the tribal beats the Africans use.

As for Rock and Heavy Metal - the premise is the same. Young kids still lose themselves, some do drugs, defy they parents and priests, and sing songs like 'Highway to Hell' which give the religious authorities just the fuel they are looking for.

Really, Rock is not "Satanic", since one really has to be a Christian to believe in Satan anyways. Those who claim Rock/Metal is, and those who write the "Satanic" songs just feed off each other. I see your point though, ther surely is nothing in the bible that says music is a "sin."

I am off to listen to the Ramones now.

alot of metal bands use satanic imagery but alot of metal bands are strongly christian and use strong christian lyrics like the devil wears prada

Subversive music scares the moral majority.
If it's not the norm it could upset order and control of society.

I guess because a lot of rock singers use Lord's name in vain. Well I'm going to hell anyway, so what does it matter?

Because Christians are the most dangerous subhumans on Earth!!!

This is the product of the religious and the devout playing God. I thought that he was the only one capable and responsible for judgment? Instead of concerning themselves with where everyone else will end up in the afterlife they should worry about themselves.

In most belief systems music is not a sin...in fact it's a means of praise, worship and celebration. There's nothing "sinful" about that.

well obviously they are gongi to hate it they hate everything that is not "conform"

wow...
what the hell did i just say.

well if people think that if you listen to rock music you will go to hell then they are either extemly retared or stoned :]
Mabey some things in rock could that represent satanic things(rob zombey for example) could scare them and turn them into thinking its bad .

well I'm atheist and could give shite less what angry Christians think is a "sin",EVERYTHING is sin to Christians, there very small mined people ,who like to believe in fairy tales.

cause their closed minded *ssholes. they think just cause its loud or has some screaming, that its the devils music. i hate how people judge a book by its cover, it pisses me off. people should really open their minds to new things. lots of metal and rock obviously have no ties to the devil or evil in anyway, but stupid closed minded people are too quick to judge and just label it as evil.

They are closeminded and they don't even know it. How sad...

True, there is NOTHING Satanic about Rock OR Metal. There are Satanic bands out there, but it has nothing to do with what genres those bands are.

Religious people I think just feel threatened by that type of music.

And, they don't give the music the time of day. If you never hear a Metal song, and all of a sudden hear it, you won't understand what Metal is trying to express.

They don't understand it, which is why they have NO RIGHT to judge it.

Metal and Rock are at times faster, heavier, and louder genres of music, which they aren't used to.

Try not to let it get to yah. Those people are judgemental.

Ha ha. Yeah. They're saying that, and it doesn't say that in the bible. (They obviously haven't read the whole bible then) I think that religious people are just neurotic about seeing satanic or offensive things.

Plus a lot of rock and metal songs touch on those subjects as satanism, and too them I guess talking about satan is the same as worshiping it.

WHILE THERE ARE SOME BANDS WHO TRULY ARE SATANIC AND ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO WORSHIP SATAN, MOST DONT. I THINK RELIGIOUS PEOPLE BELEVE ROCK AND METAL THE DEVIL'S MUSIC BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO THAT TYPE OF MUSIC INDULGE THEMSELVES IN TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS WHICH THE BIBLE SAYS THAT NO ONE SHOULD "BRAND OR MARK THEIR SKIN" BANDS ALSO TEND TO USE THE DEVIL AND DEMONS AND COVER ART. BUT THERE ARE CHRISTIAN BANDS THAT ARE METAL:
AS I LAY DYING
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
STUFF LIKE THAT
