Everybody is getting DUMBER by the minute. I think OLD School is the only true entity that Hip-Hop has left. I feel you.

We need a revolution, indeed.

because half of the people on here are thirteen year olds who didnt grow up listening to it.
and the half that arent thirteen year olds arent cool enough to realize how great it really is C:

Because they arn't intelligent enough to know that old school hip hop is actually hip hop while new mainstream stuff is pop club music where the rappers don't know how to mc

i dont like it because u say it like all of todays music is crappy which isnt true there are alot of great mcs outhere today that alot of u old heads overlook not old heads do but some of u do ok u recognize there are some good mcs out today but not all of todays music is garbage and even some of the commercial mcs have some good music thats is really about something these guys have to follow whats hot to get people to listen to them so that on they albums they can speak teh good messages its ofensive cause like its been said all of old school hip hop aint great there are plenty of artist in the old school that werent great and who were jsut as commercial as the artist out now all im saying is OLDSCHOOL HIP HOP AINT PERFECT

I DO IT WAS GREAT I WILL NEVER SAY IT WASNT GREAT BUT THERE IS SOME GREAT NEW SCHOOL TODAY THATS ALL IM SAYING NEW SCHOOL GETS KNOCKED BECAUSE OF A HANDFUL OR ARTISTS WHICH IS BS CAUSE REMEBER MC HAMMER AND VANILLA ICE CAME DURING UR TIME OF HIP HOP WHICH ARE JSUT OLD SCHOOL VERSIONS OF SOUJAH BOY

because of mc hammer thats why i get mad at old heads.

Of course there were wack old school rappers, but the mainstream used to be in much better shape than it is now. There are still amazing artists around now, it's just a shame that they don't get as much airplay as they deserve. It's really sad for people who grew up seeing their favourite rappers
getting mainstream attention to see the ones with the real skills (including the new ones) not getting that attention now.

Why does everything have to be split up like this? Surely we can all just agree that some old school rappers were good and so are some new school ones. Does it really matter what era they come from as long as the skills are there?

dont feel bad im a HUGE fan of anything before 2004 myself..ill take what my parents use to listen to back in the day anytime over this stuff thats out now, some of it i can get with and some I cant but im startin to listen to old songs that use to be hot and nobody listens to anymore because they rock more than whats out now

Because people don't want to face the fact that mainstream Hip Hop has taken a serious nose dive. 1988- 1994 were hip hop's golden era and the younger ppl don't want to admit that, because they were too young back then to embrace it.

You can do whatever you want but the hard truth is that the new school is better musically than the old school. The ONLY difference is that the old school was better for casual hip-hop listeners like yourself. Why? Because the quality hip-hop was in the mainstream back then, and was very easily accessible. Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, all of them were not only the biggest rap stars back then, but they also made the best music.

Now today if you want good music a lot of the time you have to venture into the underground. But people like you don't feel like doing that, you would rather have music handed to you on a silver platter than try and find it on your own. For instance, I'm sure you've never heard of Binary Star. Well in my opinion they made the best rap album of all time, and they released it in the 2000s. I'm sure as you are reading this that you are thinking to yourself that I am being absolutely ridiculous and wrong with my claim that it is the best rap album of all time. Why? Because you've never heard of it. Is your initial reaction to listen to it with an open mind? I would hope so, but I doubt it. You would rather tell me that the music I listen to is worse because you have never heard it.

Well then maybe "certain people" aren't the problem. You got a mirror in your house? Check it out.

you might as well have just stated im the reason for this thread being made, no point in subliminal shots to get attention

here's a star, since i kno how much u love the spotlight
