I recall the tickets weren't cheap and we bought them 6 months in advance. The big day finally came and it was POURING rain. It was an outdoor concert. We were concerned but willing to brave the weather with lots of booze and some illegal substances. Arriving early, wanting to get a head start on things, we found that we had to park 2 miles away and walk in the rain. Things weren't looking good.
Soaking wet we finally arrived at the stadium as the illicit substances were just beginning to course through our veins. The rain mystically stopped just as we arrived at the gate and we didn't dear question it. The shadows lengthened as the sun set lower and soon the darkness was about. Still well lit, the light reflecting off the looming cloud cover, everyone was wondering if the show would go on.
Soon after the deep loud voice of a concert beginning was blasting through the speakers the band hit the stage. The well lubed crowd went nuts! About halfway through the first song everyone was looking up. I peered skyward and saw what had developed. A perfect circle had opened up in the clouds straight above the concert and in the dead center of that hole was a shining half moon. I recall thinking, "Wow I have never seen anything like this before!", the drugs didn't hurt the effect. Off in the distance you could see rain falling in all directions all around us. The visual of the clouds and the moon was just like something you would see on one of the bands album covers and the moment was to last a lifetime. They played 3 hours and we never felt another drop of rain.
That show was by far the best ever for me. There isn't even a second place as far as I'm concerned. It was a magical moment, as though the band put in a call to the big boss and then put the finishing touches on a perfect evening.

1976 in Los Angeles. The Eagles performed. Right after Joe Walsh joined them and just before the release of Hotel California. During one song there was violin music playing. Everybody thought it was just "piped" in until the curtain in back (Hotel California album artwork on the curtain) opened up to reveal about 20 violinists playing.

Also in either late 79 or very early 80 I saw Huey Lewis and the American Express. Everybody loved the American Express but thought Huey Lewis really sucked.
