Re-recorded "Oldies" question... please read on?!

Question: I have the equivalent of a photographic memory for what I hear. Does anybody else detest the re-recordings of "oldies" from the 60s and 70s??? I just bought a few tracks off iTunes, and there was NO indication that they'd been re-recorded. How do you tell the difference before you buy? Am I missing something? Help!!

I absolutely hate this practice, along with substituting live recordings and remixes. It's dishonest. When I get a song, I want exactly the version I'm familiar with. I don't want anything else.

I do hate to hear re-recorded tunes. On I-tunes, I do not think you can tell. unless there is a date of the recording or it comes right out and says it, there is not a way to tell.

I usually check out what CD its being taken from and then consult Amazon or another music/commerce site and look at the info there.
