Unfortunately, many people consider MCR to be emo even though they are not.
They were a bit gothic in The Black Parade (not till like Marilyn Manson) but emo is totally out of the question.
I suppose MCR is hated by many that support Led Zeppelin and the rest cuz they're afraid one day MCR will be The Beatles of the 21st Century.
What a pity!
Give me thumbs-down MCR haters and I won't care.

My chemical romance is a good group. They also have nice songs. Me and my friends like them. I dont see whats so bad about them.
They are sell-outs.
Hardcore bands don't usually let there image be show in teen mags like J-14.
They may have been a good band in 02',but now they are just a money party.

I'm sure if I listed some of the bands that I love, you would think they were terrible.
I have said this many times, music taste is entirely subjective. You can't expect every single person on this earth to love a band just because you do - what one person thinks is fabulous could be what another person considers cr*p. There is no right or wrong, best or worst when it comes to music - just personal preference; that simple fact explains why some people don't like that band.

Well I'm going to give you a serious, mature answer without trying to put shock value into it. Unlike the other answerers, I'm going to give you reasons why they aren't good. I'm going to tell you things having to do with the music. Rather then the fact that it's emo, or that the lead singer is ugly <--- that was super dumb for that one chick to say, that has nothing to do with the music.
Are you a musician? Do you realize what makes a great musician?

I think that Gerad Way (did I spell that right) is an amazing singer. I really do. I'll give you that.
Another reason, the genre of the music is Emo. Emo music just plain sucks. One big reason it sucks is because all they really talk about is how their boyfriend/girlfriend broke up with them, how they are depressed, how they are going to kill themselves, ect.
Notice, Emo is a trend. The music is a trend. Emo music is like slapping Elvis Presely and Black Sabbath for giving the world a beautiful gift: Pure Rock N' Roll, and Pure Heavy Metal.
They just try to hard. Period.
And no, they really aren't a very good group of musicians. Their music is sooo simple!
I think you should look into the bands (Black Sabbath and Lamb of God) I named earlier. They're pretty cool. You'll get hooked and you'll end up realizing why people hate bands like MCR. Keep and open mind.

The music I couldn't care less about.......what I didn't like was when they say " if you don't like us then go and die " not very nice and not a good thing to say around kids.
I love MCR, people think they are stupid because they wear makeup,and they think they dont care about the fans when they do.
Let me break this into simple terms
1)Bad/hostile/obsessed fan base - You for example as well as other obsessed MCR fans try to make people convert to liking that band when they do not and act hostile if they refuse. Theats of killing them and murder.
2)Bad music - Their pointless lyrics, and very few basic chords on guitar are a pathetic attempt.
3)Genre - They claim emo sucks but yet they wear the same fashion and apparal as Emo. And they also claim to be Metal on their myspace which they are the farthest thing away from it.
I shouldn't say more... I know way better music than this mainstream MTV recommendations.

lol dont dispair juan the majority of people who hate emo havent opened their minds to different music yet. i am a die hard heavy metal fan but i think some emo songs are bloody brill i went with my kids to see mcr in belfast and they were absolutly fantastic they rock. i also dig mars quite a lot. so dont worry as long as you like them who cares what the rest think. :)

i don't know about the "emo" or "goth" thing cuz i usually don't label things/people that way..
i like them for their passion. gerard always shows his passion in any performance and i applaud him for that. (he should be an actor)

theyre part of the whole hot topic phenomenon. Im not into walking into a clothing store and being bombarded by bands that all look the same. That just irks me at times and already makes me not look forward to listening to them. Its also just kinda hard to get into them. I just dont get really interested when I listen to them, but i have nothing against people who do listen to them
I Only like 2 of their songs, And i don't have anything against them..New bands have been coming in that im more attracted to :)
People go "They suck" because they think MCR is either:
A - Very very very mainstream/commercial. ((Which they are not))
B - Very very very emo. ((Which they are not))
