If you don't know nothing about them and want to get a glimpse at their "progressive" beginning the best thing to start with is "Stars Die - The Delirium Years". It contains almost all the best songs they made from 91 to 97.
From their "second" period (99 - 03) my personal favourite is "Lightbulb sun" It contains the two masterpieces "Hatesong" and "Russia on Ice" as well as "Shesmovedon" and "4 Chords that made a million" .....
If you like the"prog" to be "dressed" with a little of (nu)-metal than try out "Deadwing" or "Fear of a Blank Planet".
Last but not least if you want to take part in a real trip, listen to The "Voyage 34" EP.
btw Steven Wilson has a lot more to offer than "just" PT!!!

I'm just starting to get into them so I only have one cd right now and that is "On The Sunday Of Life". However, I plan on going out later today and getting a few more of their cds.
