What was so great about CLIFF BURTON?!
Question: You can hardly hear him in any songs (especially justice album), and I just dont understand the hype. Pulling teeth is good.. But isnt he badly overrated?
If he hadnt died I doubt he would be so highly praised.

coming from someone who has seen him live you will have no idea!! fyi he wasn't on Justice, he was dead...but anyway the fact that you can't hear how good the bass lines are in all the songs he plays on is nuts!!!! that fact alone that he can keep up that speed with the rest of them with just his fingers and no pick night after night and how amazing his solos were.... if you've never seen the video cliff'em all ..pick it up. best documentary ever!!! I'll tell ya one thing. if he was still alive he'd either have keep metallica on the straight path or would have left the band loooong ago.
check metallica's most albums after him...i don't like most.

He was dead before Justice was thought of so it's no surprise you can't hear him. Try Orion or most anything on Master of Puppets. Yes he was that good.
He got the rest of Metallica into cool music like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Thin Lizzy and he introduced them to music theory as well and by the by he was a great bass player too.
p.s. Listen to "And justice for all", it sounds like Newstead forgot to plug his feckin' bass in altogether.

Jason was in justice but cliff was awesoe he put metallica in the lead and look at his playing he could probably keep up with James (not kirk, he goes to fast) with just a bass!!! Cliff was one of the best bassists of his time!!
