Answers: I dont know about prefer...but I do like it alot...

yea but it doesnt compare to hip hop from the 90's

depends if it fits in some sounds fine with out it and some sounds like crap without it

Sure, if its valid to the song. They shouldnt do it just for filler. It cheapens the effect.

Yeah, I do I remember that old West Coast Hip Hop late 80's early 90's really didn't cut it(pardon the pun) becuz there wasn't any scratching pretty much. Even when I hear Flash or Eric B from way back I love that as we would now see it primitive scratching. I think that really the East Coast DJs of the late 80's and 90's really helped with my appreciation of classic hip hop and dragged me away from the more clubby Hip Hop trash that sells lots of Records. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate that West Coast Flava of Old but real Hip Hop has a strong DJ as part of the Crew.

Yeah, it depends on the song. Too much isnt really necessary though. Sometimes it gets over-done.

Scratching is ok for a regular song u can dance to, but then it gets to the point where they scratch too much and people get tired of that. What I really like doing is beat mixing (as in mixing beats from one song onto another, and making your own beat.) That's probably the best way to DJ. Take the beat of the song and make it better w/o scratching.
