Why is it that Beatles fans claim that................?!
Question: when defending the band when someone says they suck, the biggest defense is that the Beatles music changed and inspired every ounce of music created today.
I am not knocking them either way, I just find this hard to believe.

Also, if you think the Beatles suck you're pretty...not intelligent I guess would be the word, to say any type of music "sucks" is to say that Picasso sucked, or that Da Vinci was a moron.
Art is art, whether you like it or not, it's still great.
The Beatles are classic, and they have inspired a whole ton of music that's out there today... it's true!
It was definatly not everything we have today but a whole lot of it wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the Beatles. And people say it because they want to defend bands that they love which i do believe actually did change music just not everything is influenced because of it
It is kind of an exaggeration, but generally the idea is that every band is based on the band before it to some extent (you can actually follow the evolution of music genres this way), and that it started at the Beatles. Of course, the Beatles had influences, who had their influences etc... so I suppose I would be just as justified in saying every band is based on Mozart or any other predecessor.
simply that they broke a lot of barriers in the music business such as not sticking to the 2 or 3 min song. writing their own material, changing with the times, etc. and many not just a few, but MANY of the groups that are around today claim they were influenced by the Beatles or if not directly by the Beatles they were influenced by a band that says they would never have gone into the music business if not for the Beatles so directly or indirectly these groups are influenced by the Beatles. At any rate, I don't particularly like every person who influenced the Beatles but I still use that same defense because I am a big Beatles fan.
Buddy Holly is probably having a good laugh at that statement wherever he is now.
Not all things that POSE as music, but all REAL music was in some way influenced by them.
They sure didn't start the afterbirth garbage that is rap or hip-hop!
The Beatles was no way near the only inspiration. The Beatles though took music in geneal the biggest step up.
