Considering Nas writes his own lyrics, it should take some time for him to come out with his new album. Honestly, I'd rather him take his time and come up with some quality songs instead of lowering himself to the standard of today's hip hop. Another reason it's taking longer than expected could be because of some disagreements between Nas and Jay Z. They were supposed to work on a song together but if one of them isn't happy with it, it's gonna cause problems.

BTW, he signed with Def Jam out of necessity. Even though he can make songs of much better caliber than a lot of current artists, he's not going to get record sales unless he's promoted and his songs are well circulated though out the radio stations. The industry has shifted the focus from the quality of the music to the commercial aspects and nobody seems to care. Even talentless idiots like Soldier Boy can go platinum now a days because the public eats it up. In today's world, good music is rare and the people who appreciate good music are rarer.

You can't rush art! I bet Michelango had people riding him but he just said "Let me finish!"

Hes on Def Jam who knows

i think def jam has been havin some problems lately. not a 100% sure though. i do no that nas is gonna try to make his album revolutionary. i also no that he change the date from december to feburary cuz of black history month. so he's plannin somethin big (like the hip hop is dead thing which didn't really help, it just caused an uproar)

He can rush it but then it won't be as good as it could of been. Delays aren't always bad things, it gives him more time to fine tune the album.

Nas new album? damn, i thought he gave rap up after hip hop is dead. Oh well, another 15+ tracks to laugh at.
