Who gave Led Zeppelin their EXACT name?!

Question: trick question so be careful!

Answers: trick question so be careful!

Their manager, Peter Grant.

Wasn't it that kiddy fiddler Jonathon King?

Yeah, in a sense, but only a quarter of "Who": Keith Moon!

The story we've been given is that Moon chuckled upon
"hearing" about the Yardbirds moving on, as it were...

Of course some of us believe not everything we've
been given to read...

ADDED: For the sake of proper credit, however,
an additional note is necessary.

In creating the name for plans of maximum impact
(read: success), Page realized that Americans
would pronounce the 'Lead' as LEED, and
smartly decided to spell it, 'Led', as reads
in, Led Zeppelin.

Rumor mill is that the Stones saw a Led Zepplin show. Mick Jagger was quoted as saying "That band is going to take off like a LEAD ZEPPLIN"

I believe it was Keith Moon, he said they'd go down like a Lead Zeppelin.

The gentleman above me is correct. They dropped the "a" in Lead so people wouldn't confuse it with "leed".

all those answers are wrong Jimmy page the lead guitar player came up with the name. jimmy was a member of the yardbrids in the 60's and when that band broke up he had the rights to the name and played as the new yardbrids for a while but that did not work out so him and bass player john paul jones then meet robert plant & john bonham and thats how ledzeppelin was born.

yea i guess it was kieth moon, saying they'd go down like a lead zeppelin, i think i read it in their mothership album or some jimmy page biography.

Moon.
Dropped the "a".
