Finger numbering for guitar?!

Question: Relating to the guitar, how would you number your fingers? I.e., would the pointer finger be the first, middle the second, etc, or the other way around?


I'm not remembering which way it is and it's bugging me XD

index finger(1) middle(2) ring(3) pinky(4)

Your index finger is the no. 1
middle finger no. 2
ring finger no. 3
small finger (pinkie) no. 4

anyway, changes can be made during chord formation depending on how you'll form it. But as long as you're pressing the appropriate string on the appropriate fret of a particular chord, you're doing it the right way.
