Learning clarinet.........Is it hard to master?!

Question: The person above learned the sax in 2 days? I sure wouldn't want to have to listen to that!

The clarinet, just like any instrument, is indeed hard to master. I have been playing saxophone, clarinet, flute and various other woodwinds for over 40 years now and I do not consider myself a master.

Becoming a master at anything (music or not) involves unrelenting dedication, constant learning and tons of practice. Unless you are a prodigy, you can count on years or decades of hard work and dedication to master this instrument. But don't give up! The journey is more rewarding than the destination!

hey honey, in instruments which the sound is created by throwing wind in them, the hardest part is to make a dramatic clear mezzo voice. but other things depend on YOU! I mean, everything is both hard and easy. I think it is not very difficult to master it just practice, practice and practice.

nah not really...i learned sax in like 2 days the hard part is learning to read music and such i guess...not the actual playing...

I learned to play the clarinet in junior high and kept up with it through high school. It doesn't take long to learn to play the instrument but it does take time to actually master it, to play it well, to make the right sounds, to bring life to the music you play, to put your heart into it. I loved playing and I wish I had stuck with it after high school. Even if I had, I still would not be a master at it. Like others have said, it takes a lot of practice and dedication but it is definitely well worth all the effort! Good luck and happy playing, if that's what you decide!

Easy too play it badly. Hard to play it right
