What happened to Gretchen Wilson?!
Question: Her third album, "One Of The Boys", is laying an egg after her first two albums went platinum. I suspect it has to do with the lack of singles sounding like "Redneck Woman", though for the life of me I cannot understand why Carrie Underwood got to do "Before He Cheats" when she's obviously trying to corral the Christian side of the country market. That song should have been done by Gretchen.

But if she wants back on top of the new country bandwagon, she will need a really strong single. She's competing with LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert, Terri Clark, JoDee Messina, Jennifer Nettles, and a host of other attractive women who have rowdy woman hits. Let's face it, with her pipes, no one really wants to hear her ballads. The charts show it.

I think her contract ran out and was not renewed. I loved her second album, but it didn't do as well as the first, as if it could?

I just saw her at the Chili Cook-Off in Fort Lauderdale with Big and Rich. She is still touring and doing a great job. I'm not sure if she is coming out with anything right now though.
