Actually, rap is better because this music focuses on spoken word and street language. Metal is only slightly less better because usually heavy metal bands usually dress also with a fair amount of metal, for example, spikes, like Judas Priest, to make themselves known, or wear long hair (of course, Ozzy Osborne's stint with Black Sabbath was great but not perfectly great because of his hair) but their lyrics don't usually speak about the streets.
I like rap better because it has the potential to be kind of chill, to be punkish, to be party music, to be angry, and to be mafioso.
I won't deny I like a couple metal songs, but overall they just sound really angry. Kickass guitar and drums, but just too angry all the time for me.
That's like asking what is better between cancer and heart disease.
Ya know some of the answers above are opinionated. I would just and roll with what Ice T did with body count and Suicidal Tendencies as Well as Onyx and Bio Hazzard. I would say both they have been together before and it wont be the last I am sure of it.
the heavy-er the better :) lol but some rap is good depends on what u like i guess
rap (R&B,trip hop, etc) always makes me want to dance and move my body, and follow the beat.. but metal makes me stressed, depressed and feel so dark.. And angry...

I live and breath hip hop but metal is cool too. I'm not really into the modern stuff really, but original metal from the late 60s/early 70s is really good. I'll rock out to Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin any time.
Metal is for disturbed individuals too scared to actually say what they mean in audible tones and for unwashed smelly people to run into each other in order to build some sort of bizarre animistic bestiality ritual. I can dig Black Sabbath, Pantera, Gunners, Sepultura but still I never buy that music now but I still buy New Hip Hop. Just poking fun.
