Classic rock fans, What's the second greatest guitar riff/solo of the genre?!

Question: Unless you are prepared to get into a major brawl with me I'm assuming we can all agree #1 is Jimmy Page's riff right after the "orgasm" in Whole Lotta Love.Who doesn't do an air guitar EVERY time you hear it? Fight? Okay my second is Smoke on the Water. if you think me obvious and narrow minded I'll offer up Slash's start for Sweet Child "o Mine as the most memorable of the 80's and Tom Morellas riffs in Rage Against the Machine's Bulls on Parade as the best "modern" riff.By the way i don't play the guitar. Your faves?

Fine... I'll accept the fight unlike the agreeables above me...

Try thinking of Chuck Berry's - "No particular place to go" and then follow it up "Johnny B Goode"

Best solo of all time is Jimi Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner" and any hit single after that....

And after seeing both in concert - I'll take Eddie Van Halen over statue Slash any day.... as far as most memorable solo's in the 80's go.... Eddie's solo in "jump" on keyboards was more memorable then anything Slash did on that whole album....

EDIT - alright went for the "rattle your cage" style answer - but might I add another "great"

*The Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil"

One underrated guitar solo was Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" or even "white wedding"...
Joe Satriani's "Surfing with the alien"...

eric clapton in layla
slash in november rain
slash's intro in sweet child o mine
jimmy page in stairway to heaven
jimmy page in heartbreaker
richie blackmore in smoke on the water
eddie van halen in eruption

there are loads more but i guess these are the top of tops..

I'll have to say David Gilmour's 1st solo in Comfortably Numb is my fav. To me, it's a language that I've never heard duplicated.

Numero uno would be Mr. Crowley from the Tribute album.... Damn man Randy Rhoads jammed the hell out of that!!

Lol, you need to broaden your musical tastes. You want classic riffs?
All Along the Watchtower... Jimmi Hendrix
Iron man...Black Sabbath
Paranoid...Black Sabbath
Shook Me All Night Long... AC\DC
Bad Motor Scooter...Montrose

Late 60's, 70's,and 80's Hard rock/Arena rock/early Heavy Metal is FULL of classic riffs, and Jimmy Page's work is highly over rated.

Mines gotta be Angus Young in Touch Too Much!

Randy Rhoades- Crazy Train
Slash- Welcome To The Jungle
Jimmy Page- Kashmir
Eric Clapton- White Room
Jimi Hendrix- Voodoo Child
Angus Young- Shook Me All Night Long
Ritchie Blackmore- Smoke On The Water
Joe Satriani- Surfing With The Alien
Brian May- Play The Game
Tony Iommi- Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath

1) Stairway to Heaven- Jimmy Page
2) Comfortably Numb- David Gilmour
3) Eruption- Eddie Van Halen
4) Free Bird- Allen Collins/ Gary Rossington
5) All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
6) November Rain- Slash
7) Texas Flood- Stevie Ray Vaughan
8) Hotel California- Don Felder/ Joe Walsh
9) One- Kirk Hammett
10) Layla- Eric Clapton/ Duane Allman

Neil Young's Like a Hurricane.

Though not that much classic rock, some of my favourite riffs/solos

Randy Rhoads - Crazy Train (riff & solo), Mr Crowley (solo)
Metallica - The Unforgiven (solo), Master Of Puppets (bridge)
Eddie Van Halen - Eruption
John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss
David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb (both solos)
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower (solo)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (solo)
Slash - November Rain (last solo), Ain't It Fun (Intro)
Eric Clapton - Layla (riff)
Jimmy Page - Stairway To Heaven (solo)
oh well... this could be a very long list

child in time
highway to hell
highway star
master of puppets
time(pink floyd)
all along the watchtower

You forgot Jeff Beck. I agree on the rest. Pat Travers- Boom-Boom out go the lights!!!
