What's the big attraction about black metal?!

I'll admit one thing, it was hard for me to get into black metal, but just listening to, I ended finding that they do have some great melodic qualities towards the music, the blend of brutal vocals with harmonic sounds blends well, bands such as Bathory, Akercocke, Darkthrone, Leviathan, Immortal really have some great music.
No offense, but maybe the reason you can't get into black metal is because you are a christian and most black metal bands are more lenient towards satanism.
Bit many even base their lyrics towards nature.
We could say the same with alot of genres, there is no answer, its just your personal preference.
Maybe it's just not for you =]
Like pop music isn't for me.
Personally, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It sounds good to my ears. If you don't like the sound of it, no amount of persuasion will change that.
A good black metal album is like a epic journey. Like reading the classics. A symphony for the senses.
Because bands write about burning churches, satan and raping and murdering people. It's so awesome!!! Ergh.

I honestly don't think that there is an "attraction" with Black Metal. I know plenty of metalheads that like all different genres of metal but can't stand Black Metal. Its just personal preference.
I like Black Metal, however I tend to like the bands that try and define themselves by creating a sound different from all the other BM bands. Hence why I tend to like Symphonic Black Metal more.
For me personally, I can appreciate it more so than other genres since I relate to quite a bit of it. Xasthur, for instance hits my general feelings for most things spot on so I use it as a release frome stress among other things. Unfortunately for some people it has become nothing but a trend that will soon die out, you can tell who is just following the trend easily though because they hardly ever explore anything deeper than Darkthrone and Mayhem and they act like Dimmu Borgir is the best thing to ever hit the black metal scene.
I love black metal because its dark and angry. The very first black metal band I heard was venom and they were like nothing I have ever heard before. Then bathory singing about norse myth and pride to the Norwigan gang with their anger and hate, burzum, Immortal, etc to the satanic aspect. All that along with the music itself is what attracts me to it.
I doubt you be enlightened by anyone who loves black metal..
