As much as I like The Mars Volta, it shows how clueless the people are at MTV they're so busy putting on crappy reality shows that they don't even know what bands are heavy metal anymore.
mtv is garbage, such as other famous media outlets like rolling stone magazine...mars volta is not classified to one specific genre, but they are not a headbanger's ball band.
they could be considered metal.
but not head banging music.
and mtv is dumb.
