you should try to play slow but heavy songs, not like metal heavy but pretty heavy (check out Soundgarden's Outshined and Slaves and Bulldozers to see what i mean).
you should try to write songs about political or social issues.
try to get a drummer with a "heavy foot" don't get a drummer that plays in like a pop punk band, because the sounds wont sinq together well, trust me.
and get some flannel, not seriously, but if your in a grunge band its always good to get one flannel shirt.

good job keeping grunge alive, stay strong my brother, stay strong.

Wear plaid lumberjack shirts!!!

First Travel back in time to the early '90s. Just kidding. You might be able to get by without a drummer and use the bass to keep time. Practice with your buddies cover a couple of famous songs and learn them well. Work on writing your own songs and gradually work them in to your set list (you'll have more stuff to write about as you get older). Try different types of rock dabble with metal, punk and folk(get a couple Pogues albums they are very diverse musically, although they are usually classified as Punk). Good luck

im not saying this to be mean but...... if you do start a band and start playing shows, DONT play any nirvana songs on stage.

ive heard them completely butchered so many times and no one will ever be able to compare with Kurt Cobain. so more than likely if you were to play it on stage everyone would be compareing your talent to kurts.

just use their songs for practice. i really appreciate bands that write their own music rather than do cover songs all the time.
