Why does my acoustic guitar have fret buzz on one string?!

Question: The thinnest string, called the bottom E string, has fret buzz at the 13th and 17th fret. What causes that, and what can I do to repair it?

If its on those two frets only, then its because those two frets are higher than the rest, they may have started working themselves loose out of the finger board. Very careful tapping with a small hammer may get them back in place where they belong, or they may need to be leveled with a file. If this guitar costs more then $500 it might best be left to an experienced guitar technician.

replace the nut

If the buzz is on two frets then either the fingerboard is warped or the fret wire is protruding too much. Not much you can do about a warp, but frets that are too high can be filed down with careful use of a needle file. I assume that being an acoustic there's no way of raising the bridge height individually on the 1st string

you could try raising the bridge

You probably need to raise the bridge because it sounds like the string is not clearing the fret.
