I'd wanted to ask can a rhythm guitarist play the lead? and can the lead pla!
Question: because if they can ..then why do bands have usually seperate rhythm/lead guitarists..
also logically speaking a rhythm guitarist must konw how to do the lead..how to perform solo's and stuff
and a lead guitarist must know chord progression...
i mean i think to be known as a guitarist..we must konw both..how to switch chords and how to do scales

Yes, rythm and lead can switch back and forth, and they usually do. You just don't know it. A guitar player is a guitar player. In bands, it's usually who writes the music that gets to play what they want to play. You know what I mean??? But, at the same time, some people are better playing the lead riffs, and some are better at playing the rythm.
