Although he was never country I will say this. If I had to pick my ten top favorite songs of all time and it would probably be in my top five it would be "Delicado" by Percy Faith. Wonderful music wonderful arrangement.
His first job? Ain't got a clue.

He was a child prodegy on piano. When he was 18 his hands became badly burned in a fire which ended his career as a pianist. He then took up conducting and writing music.
He died in 1976.
His own radio career began at CKCL, where he was arranger-conductor for 'Simpsons' Opera Hour' in 1927 and other such programs.
Faith studied composition with Louis Waizman and began arranging for the hotel orchestras of Luigi Romanelli and Rex Battle.
He also wrote arrangements 1929-32 for the CKNC radio orchestra of Geoffrey Waddington.
