Here's a few suggestions:
1. Don't just use phrases that practically every song has! e.g don't say 'i love you' or 'you take my breath away' because those lines are just SO overused! Make up something original.
2. Write songs about lots of different situations/feelings. Not just the 'i love you so much please don't go away'. Think of something original that you've experience. Write it in a way that it describes your feelings but its vague enough that the listener could apply it to their own situation. For example, I'm currently writing a song called 'disaster' its about how disaster can strike and leave you permanently scarred. It was inspired by my horse's accident a month ago.
3. Go and explore a new perspective on topics that are not often explored in songs. e.g death (not just of a bf/gf), waiting outside the principals office, a mistake that you made - anything! be creative! But remember to keep it vague - don't say that your waiting outside the principals office, but just describe your feelings.

Hows that for now? I have to go now but if I think of anymore, you'll be the first to know! Seeya!

I'm in ya EXACT situation. i'm 14, and i love the punk and rock kind of style. what you need to do is listen to lots of songs in the punk genre, and look at how their writing style is. observe the way they write, do they write as if they are telling a story? do they write as if they are empathizing someone?

try making up someone, in a situation, and empathize them. pretend you are them. be creative and write your thoughts as that person. that person could be in a situation where they have lost a lover, or are finnaly in love with someone.

right what you feel, or something you've actually experienced. songs are way deeper that way.

When i write songs i listen to songs it inspirers me to write my own stuff.
