NAS hands down. I have never heard anyone more lyrical than him, have you ever heard anyone spit more lyrical raps than Nas did on Illmatic? Stillmatic is my favorite Nas album and Lost Tapes..he doesnt just rap...he sends messages and makes you think, everytime i listen to Nas im always rewinding parts of the song cuz i dont get it the first time..anytime someone can do that i think they are in my opinion the best rapper. Listen to tracks #3, 5, and 7 off of Lost Tapes. people are insane who say wayne is the best rapper alive..hes not nearly as deep as Nas, not even Eminem. 2pac is not even on Nas level lyrically. yea 2pac was great..probably #2 but his lyrical content did not match Nas on certain things when i compare the 2. maybe the only other rapper ive heard alive that is on the same level is AZ
Ahaha, i like Kanye West alot. And im probably going to get alot of negative remarks and thumbs down, but afterall, its all opinionated. I just love how Kanye West flows. He can really rap. Thats just my two cents! have a good day! =)

I say Jay Z. He has more than just one classic, he can rip a guest verse, he is a legend just like your boy Nas is and I think Reasonable Doubt is the best piece of work I have ever heard.

Lil Wayne isnt even close though
I mean Rakim gave Nas and lil wayne their style and is propbably the most influential rapper ever. He also has the best vocabulary ever and was the first to use multisylable rhymes, which revolutionized rap. Hes also got a few classic CDs, which Nas also has, but lil wayne still has none. Without Rakim rap would be different in a much worse way, he changed everything about rap and has undeniable skills.
Basically i think its Rakim without any question, and then i'd say Nas is the second best alive, but lil wayne isnt even a competator for the best alive, hes got no classics, no major critics have ever put him on any best rapper alive list, a lot of mix tapes dont qualify for being the best rapper alive, he does have a decent vocabulary, but he got his vocabulary from Rakims influence, and being hot like the person up there said also doesnt qualify for being the best rapper alive. If someone has a good argument for Lil wayne being the best rapper alive, please tell it to me, ppl say hes the best alive all the time, but i never hear any legitamate reasons why
If u think he is one of the best alive, u gotta go listen to real hip hop and go cop all the krs one, Scarface, AZ, big daddy kane, kool g rap, gang starr and nas albums.... that list goes on and on...
i think that nas is hip hop at its best and that real mc's are out there i mean we still have kanye and of course lupe fiasco and andree 3000

"Rakim was the first to use multisylable rhymes" - No Melle Mel was. Rakim just mastered it. 5 years before Paid in Full came out, many mcs tried to use multisylable rhymes, just Rakim could let it all flow together and had mainsteam attention.
Anyway right now my top mcs (in no order) of '07 is Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, 50 Cent (some songs were great, while some were trash), Chamillionaire, The Game, T.I., Lil' Wayne, and Saigon as far as new people in the game go. Jay-Z, KRS-One, UGK, Nas, Outkast, Scarface, and Mobb Deep.
