How old were you when you started listening to rock or metal?!
Question: I heard both pretty regularly growing up, but I didn't start to take a real interest until I was in the 5th grade/around the time I turned 10.

I used to sneak a listen to Motown music on CKLW, with my oldest sister, when I was 7. Then I first heard the Beatles sing OB-la-di.Ob-la-da. While vacationing in Italy at the same age.
With in a couple of years she was jamming out AOR, on WABX, and I was hooked ever since.
We had to be careful, not to get caught listening because my Dad, didin't allow us to listen.

When I was about 5 or 6, my dad was in a band and I loved the music.

5th grade I bought my first metal cd. Sweeet

Since I was born, my daddy was a rocker since he was a kid..music makes my life go round now..cant live without it
i was really stupid and listened to rap until i was like 10. Then I grew my brain out and started to like rock.
In the womb -- my folks love Elvis.
it was about nine or ten i think, started with guns&roses and then went to metallica (fancied something heavy and heard they were good. it was about the time reload came out.
My parents liked rock, so I've been listening to it for as long as I can remember. I got into Punk at about 12 or 13. I started taking a stronger interest in Metal at about 19. But after I found punk, it was hard for other genres to compete. One of the reasons 19 worked, is because at that time, more metal bands started dropping solos from songs and went to a more "punk rock" format. So it was almost like a different flavor of punk and hardcore.
I've always listened to it. My dad is a metal and rock n' roll junkie. I just never really took an interest in the music and appreciated it till I was around 7 or 8. I finally realized the music my das put on in the mornings on the weekends was amazing. I was the only kid in my class that actually listened to AC/DC and Sabbath and Led. My music taste is very out there. When I was in middle school i was into old bands and some new alternative and I was a GIANT A7X FAN! Now that I am in high school I listen to metal and hardcore, old bands, classic rock, glam rock. I love it all. I'd say the first bands to 'pop my cherry' and get me into the whole rock and roll was Motley Crue, AC/DC (i love Angus' guitar skills), Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Beatles, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Dio, Iron Maiden, The Doors.
First rock-n roll song I listened to was the Beatles "I wanna hold your hand" and that was back in 1964 i was 4 years old and i have been listening to rock ever since i also like my metal like black sabbath, deep purple
Well, one of my favourite bands when I was seven was Korn, and System Of A Down a little after that, so...
First it was all classical and opera.
Around 8 I guess... my first rock groups were The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. After that Sweet and shortly after Pink Floyd's Meddle. I was 10 years old by then..started to use all of my allowance on albums and 45's. Have been passionate about music ever since.

I'm 17 now
I remember being about 8 or 9 and shuffling through the records at the local Zayre's store (remember them?). I always stopped and stared at the Alice Cooper albums and KISS albums because they looked "taboo" or something. I guess that was the origin of my foray into hard rock.
I've been listening to Rock probably since I was a few days old - when I was first in my parents car!
I started to take an active interest aged somewhere between 5/6 - 8, as I would recognise the songs regularly played on the radio {it was a 1950's / 60's / 70's station}, and request my dad put on his tapes of :~

yea i would say around 10 or 11...i'm more into it now though.
I was 12 in the sixth grade and the first bands i was introduced to were- motley crue and twisted sister. I was hooked after that
i was only about 11 or 12
before then, i just listened to what my family listened to
Heard Metallica's ...And Justice for All when I was 9 years old... I've never looked back.
Got into punk around 13.
More extreme metal came into the picture around 18.
REAL extreme metal around 22.
I'm a little older now... still metal...

6th grade
Well my parents played The Beatles around me since I was born, so I've enjoyed their music for as long as I can remember. But I finally put down the toys and video games and started focusing on music in 1994...I was about 12 years old and my brother had introduced me to Nirvana, Metallica, Alice In Chains, NIN, Bush, STP, Live, ect.
I don't remember my exact age but it was a soon as the first Three Doors Down album came out, they paved the road for all my rock indulgences and now I don't listen to any other genres.
Six or seven. I only listen to 70's, 80's and early 90's hard rock and rock.
9. My dad played the Black Sabbath album Heaven & Hell for me, and I've been a fan ever since.
