Is the younger generation capable of appreciating great music/songs anymore???!

Question: Like Listen To Your Heart, Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough, Colour Of The Wind, Wind Beneath My Wings, Conga, Magic Woman, I Who Have Nothing, etc, etc.

Why are there not many good songs with catchy melodies nowadays?

I agree with you. Todays music is so crappy that i cannot buy any new artist album. I only buy albums for very old musicians. they had excellent vocal quality, something that is missing from to days music. The music also had 'heart'. to days music is all about making money, looking cool and skinny. That's all.

Yes we are. But I feel entitled to tell you that...music changes, get over it.

It's all relative. Different people have different tastes in music. Personally I can't stand sappy love songs, you on the other hand seem to think there "great". To each his own.

We're perfectly capable of appreciating good music. Well.. most of us are anyway.

I grew up liking music pre Disco, My now adult children can appreciate my music the real Question is can I or older generation appreciate their music

i've only heard of wind beneath my wings in that list. i'm 18 and i love classic music, i'm into zeppelin, hendrix, guns and roses, the who. in fact i probably like older music than you judging by your list so maybe i should ask you the same question..

There is a great remix of "Make Your Own Kind of Music" here:

There is also a dance(and non dance) remake of "Listen to your Heart" by DHT:

why would we want to appreciate things that have come before our time? the things they sing about aren't relevant to us, so whats the point?

And I could list of a ton of songs with catchy melodies

music changes from time to time. and so do the people.

I think the younger generation listens to even more music than their parents, what with the advent of the Ipod, MP3, and now zune, it seems most of them have one in their ear all the time:

Witness the growth of the major file sharing sites, referenced below. Within all of this music there are still good songs amid the other "noise", like our parent used to call the 1950's and 1960's rock and roll!

Yes, If any artist were capable of still putting it out.

Im in my 40's and only heard of 2 of those songs, but like Cmak not into the love songs.Rock on MUNCHIE. I agree with screem some older people wont listen to newwer music. All to to keep an open ear out or you'll miss stuff. AND theres always good stuff!
