I prefer Howlin' Wolf. A classic blues song written by one of the all time greats (Willie Dixon) and sung by one of the all time greats. However, Charlie Patton recorded "A Spoonful Blues" over 30 years before Wolf's recording.
Howlin' Wolf all the way. Willie Dixon wrote so many great songs.

Howlin' Wolf's song was way more " Bluesy" for sure,,,,, true blues,,,,
But anyone who has ever heard Cream do Spoonful has that haunting version running through their head right now I bet! That song was done in the style of the day,,, it was fitting for the music of the day, it rocked you to your soul, and kept the blues sound, just a different way to interpret a genius song.
