I would still recommend two 1200 Technics(sturdy and practically as they were originally created more than 25years ago).
For cheaper alternatives you could try Gemini or Vestax.
Numark also make good turntables. The needles come into play and Stanton are the classics but I'd recommend Ortofon. They have different varieties for the sort of stuff you'd be DJing like scratching, mixing etc.
Basically you need Direct Drive Turntables with a bent & weighted arm & a weighted base plus slip mats to prevent needle skipping. You also need a mixer to crossfade the two turntables between one another I'd recommend Vestax for that as well.
