go to the website lastfm.com. there you can search for a band name click play similar artist and it will give you almost unlimited options and allow you to hear the whole song. you can also make a profile and save songs you like to it.

i quite enjoy arctic monkeys, and i have seen kings of leon as an opening act (for U2). i would suggest a few bands. one of them is ficiton plane. they are very simmilar to the police, mainly because the bassist and lead singer is the son of sting (the lead singer of the police). i saw them live, and they were very enjoyable. i also met the band after the show (they signed autographs) and they were very nice. i would also suggest cobra starship. cobra starship is a mix of alternative rock and dance type music. check out their myspace. they are relativley small, but they are becoming bigger thanks to patrick stump.

An excellent group of bands you have here. You should also check out Cloud Cult, Andrew Bird, The Hold Steady, Vampire Weekend, Explosions in the Sky, Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, Bear Vs. Shark, and Stars.

off the top of my head...The Cribs, My Bloody Valentine, Belle and Sebastian, Jeffrey Lewis, British Sea Power, Wilco, The Go! Team, Teenage Fanclub, LCD Soundsystem, Killing Joke, Bat For Lashes, The Little Ones, Four Tet

I love the Artic Monkeys and The Strokes.
umm.... there are alot of good bands I would recommend to anyone. Like Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Behemoth etc. However, they have nothing in common with the bands you listed.
Some good ones similar to the above would be, Matt Nathanson, Coldplay, Secondhand Serenade, or Kate Voegele. All of these can be found on myspace. Hope you enjoy.
