Can Anyone Recommand a Guitar For Me?!

Question: Well I've been playing classical guitar for about 4 years now and all I've ever used was a nylon string standard classical guitar. I've been thinking about getting a steel string guitar for a while now and I'm not sure what to get. I'd like to play country and Jonathan Coulton's "Still Alive" and basically everything else on it. But country is the most important. Basically I want a decent acoustic guitar with at least a solid wood top and a strap so I can play it while standing up. I'd also prefer a guitar which I can make an easier transition to. Any suggestions?

Also (just wandering), what kind of guitar does Taylor Swift use?

Per other answers, Ovation is certainly an option. Model choice is up to you/your preference and comfort with the instrument. The sound across all Ovation models is fairly consistent and the feel tends to be similar across all models. However, I prefer a Martin in many cases. The sound tends to be broader and a little less tinny than Ovation (not that Ovation is tinny per se, but the Martin sound can be a bit richer), but that can also vary with the strings chosen. If Martin is beyond what you'd like to spend, Yamaha makes some decent Martin copies that are also quite good. I like the larger dreadnought box of some of the Martin and Yamaha models, but this is also simply a personal preference. You may find that the neck of a folk (versus classical) guitar is a bit narrower than that to which you are accustomed, and this will vary by manufacturer. Also, the distance from string to fretboard on a folk guitar may be somewhat closer than some classical guitars, so be sure to try several models of each manufacturer. Be aware that the feel of the guitar can be substantially altered by the strings chosen. There is much more variation here than in classical nylon strings, both in size and in composition of the strings. Be sure to check out the feel of different strings, regardless of guitar make.

Try an Ovation its a 6 string acoustic guitar and has great sound and you can play anything on it..Expensive but well worth the money.

I second the Ovation suggestion. They are incredibly indestructable and sound amazing.
