mikey way

Les Claypool from Primus and the Frog Brigade is the greatest rock bassist EVER! Incidentally, if your not familiar with Primus or the Frog Brigade, you probably HAVE heard the South Park theme song. That theme song is a musical score performed by Les Claypool and Primus.

the bassist from Rancid can rip.

Matt Freeman from Rancid is probably up at the top although he will never be as recognized as some of the other people mentioned because of the limited popularity of Rancid.

Aaaahhh yess.....Shane Crump

Steve Harris , Iron Maiden

John Entwistle (The Who) or John Deacon (Queen). Two of my favorites, always battling it out for top spot! Entwistle made the bass a lead instrument, and Deacon's work kind of fades to the background, but once you can pick it up, it's great.

Mikey way.

Trevor Dunn, bassist has worked with many bands, currently in his own solo project.

I'll take Mike Watt.
