Co-incidently, my 11 year old son and I discussed this song last night when he was playing it on his Nintendo Wii "Guitar Hero" game. I picked up my Martin, threw a capo on the 4th fret and played along with the 1966 studio version of the song. This song got played a lot live during the Steel Wheels and Voodoo lounge tours. Once I was going through a Hotel at the Kuwait City airport and I heard an "elevator music" instrumental version of it. How wierd and errie it seemed looking out across the airfield and reflecting on the conflict that had ended and the billowing clouds of oil fire smoke---yes, paint it black indeed. The stones truely reflect what is going on---past , present , future.
