Don't you find it annoying when people trying to change your music taste?!

Question: Well, what kind of people are you hanging around???
I love metal and black metal, and everyone I know wouldnt dream of trying to change my music taste. Its makes me ME.Ive never had that problem in my life, ive been accepted for who I am, that makes me an individual.
I suggest you find some new friends or people who are not in the habit of forcing their musical tastes on you.People who try to change any aspect of your personality are not genuine friends.
Dont listen to them, the way I see it is im normal, and everyone is the wierdos.

That depends on the kind of crap they listen to ...

No... i'm normally open to anything and if i don't like it then i don't like it... but i won't listen to anything country.... i might pop you in the nose if you recommend something country

I agree. It's very important that everyone have extremely narrow music tastes.

Gog forbid you should listen to a wide assortment of music...

Why, gasp, that would be UNHOLY....

I generally try to explain to them that I have a very wide range of musical tastes, and that even though I might like some of the same stuff they do, I'm not going to stop listening to other stuff I like just to please them.

I've actually only got one friend who is a jerk about being a music critic. I've just learned not to play certain kinds of music to keep from having to listen to him gripe about it.

The rest of my friends are pretty open minded about music, and they like to share stuff they find, and I share stuff I find with them too. Some are obviously better than others.

some people are jusr retarded

I feel this portion of a previous answer I posted answers your query.

To you diehard MCR fans out there, either lighten up, expand your musical selection, or wait till MCR has been around ten years and produced three solid albums. Most of us (I think Darth is one of the exceptions) are just "taking the piss" as the Brits say. When your musical tastes mature as ours have you'll do the same(you won't believe the crap my folks gave me about listening to a band called Garbage).

Seriously learn to take a little bit of good natured ribbing. There is more to music than MCR.

Cheers

actually question about "what bands should I listen to" annoys me most, because we all have different taste in music.

it depends--if they are making fun of you that's one thing and i wouldn't tolerate it. but if they are simply trying to encourage you to open your mind to other types of music that's another thing---one that i would even support.

It's important to sample different styles of music because it allows you to grow as a person--and if you don't like it at the end of the day that's fine--then you just confirmed that you like the same thing you did when you started--the worst thing that'll happen is you discover a new type of music you enjoy.

When i was younger (in my teens) i only listened to female pop singers and boy bands- like Mariah Carey, Backstreet Boys and Christina Aguilera but as i got older i opened my mind and began sampeling other types of music like punk, grung, rock, country, rap and r&b and found that their were other styles of music i enjoyed that also expressed who i am...I've since discovered some of my favorite artists are non-pop singers such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, TLC, Depeche Mode and Dashboard Confessionals.

so just keep an open mind.

actually, no one's ever tried it on me. but ja, it would annoy me if they did >.<

It pisses me off a lot. I generally listen to metal, but not the stuff with loads of screaming in because it hurts my ears. =P Yet a girl in my art class is always saying to me 'If you want to be a metalhead, you need to listen to bands that scream'.
1. Of course you don't.
2. Just because you like a band, it doesn't mean they're amazing and everyone should like them.
3. I never tell people what they should listen to. Sure, I'll reccomend a band or two to people who ask me about any music I like, but I don't moan at people who think my music is crap (a lot of people).
