I'm not knocking any artist but why do we downtalk someone for not listening!

Question: DO NOT ANSWER BEFORE READING IF UCHOOSE NOT TO READ CHOOSE NOT TO ANSWER
i notice alot of people arent into lupe fiasco wu-tang and many other groups but they have a vast knowledge of hip hop these artists are jsut not they're preferred taste y do we a s hip hop fans make the assumption that because someone doesnt feel a certain artist but likes one that we may feel is less fashioned to be considered hip hop downtalk them and say they know nothing about hip hop or they dont know real hip hop
isnt one of the main beauties of music all music not just hip hop is diversity for everyone there is something in every genre of music for everyone so what gives us the right or power to say that ''u dont know hip hop'' because they dont feel a certain artist i'll be honest i dont feel lupe fiasco like that nor am i really a wu-tang fan but that doesnt mena i dont know anything about hip hop i just dont prefer those acts

I totally agree with you. I love hip-hop. I don't downtalk people who choose to listen to Common over Lil Wayne but I get a lot of flack for listening to him and other rappers that are considered "trash". I listen to the artists that I like and lyrics that I appreciate. Everyone on yahoo answers tries to downtalk you just because you like to listen to certain people that they do not approve of. Personally, I do not like Wu Tang nor Lupe either and don't see the big deal but if someone likes them then good for them. You should listen to who you want to listen to and no one should have to be "hated on" because of it. Great question!

rather be a dirty lil punk rocker then another lil hip hopper

what sort of anime lover doesn't have an avatar or picture.
Usually I let people listen to what they like but also give em knowledge on some stuff I like. I'm not a big Lupe or Wu Tang Fan but they can rhyme, I wouldn't put them in the category of most of the wack stuff people talk about on answers.

I agree with you for the most part, but get real, a person that says Soulja Boy is the best artist of all time isn't on the same page as a person that says 2pac is.. But I agree with letting people listen to what they want to and not critisize it.

Your question actually crosses all musical tastes and not just Hip Hop. I'm a Hip Hop junkie and listen to what I like and don't care what anyone else thinks or says. For the record, I don't really like a lot of the new stuff coming out. Give me old school any day. Public Enemy, KRS 1, De La Soul, Etc. You have to be true to yourself and not to the music.
A good example is this. You ask anyone if they like Bob Marley and 99.9% of people will say yes. It's almost fashionable! Even if they don't like him, they'd be too scared to say no. I love him btw. But it's not wrong to say you don't like Bob, The Beatles or even Elvis. A lot of people are like sheep and just want to be part of the 'yes' crowd. Don't don't don't believe the hype!

whos we?
stop speakin as if u represent anyone but yourself man

coz if u dont like wu, u definitely dont speak for a lot of people's tastes here

i'd rather bottle someone than myself
(for the emo punk anti avatar comment up the top)

hip hop? i like immortal technique and LMNO but i cant stand souljah boy or lil wayne but hey, we cant judge someone by their music taste or else we'd hate everyone right? respect for standing up for what you like, whatever that is. (except souljah boy, lil wayne anything from the dirty south, anything commercial, any rapper that has lil in front of their name or camron etc)

They've figured out...if you're listening to Lil Wayne, and these other studio idiots that sell the concept of "get money at whatever cost" to our kids...that you DONT KNOW HIP HOP. You might as well buy a BACKSTREET BOYS' greatest hits album..you're getting the same thing. Go find a 98 Degrees' reunion tour to jump on. They are about as REAL as lil wayne(his husband birdman) and the others like that.
