Of course. In fact, i think your love/liking of Alternative Rock, Hard Rock and Funk Rock could be a great thing. If you incorporated all of those styles with Grunge you /could/ come up with something interesting and quite individual.

yea. of course u can. i love grunge music & i'm not like that at all. i'm also into indie rock & metal & alternative stuff too.
music is about nonconformity.
