the doobie brothers is the only one i can think of but i know they had more than six albums. besides, how can anyone keep track of when they were together, which incarnation, etc.

Mountain broke-up in 1972 and reformed in 74, . - but if you only counting Studio and Twin Peaks albums' and not compilations - I think that is 6(?)
Naw - somethings wrong - Mountain has more than 6 - I'm sure of it - aren't I (?)

- Talking Heads did not know each other in 1972 - and they all met at Rhode Island School for Design.
- Boston has 6 albums, but I thought they were from Boston??
- Mountain did not split-up during that time-frame.
