Which band has had the biggest drop in musical quality?!

Question: My own personal pick would be Aerosmith. They were one of the best hard rock bands of the '70s and today their music is on the same caliber as Celine Dion or the Backstreet Boys.

I suspect many of you will say Metallica or the Stones.

(By the way, I'm avoiding using the word "sellout." I hate that term and it's a cliched, meaningless insult.)

I'm going to be one of those who would say Metallica, although Aerosmith has had a huge dip in quality over the past 15 years or so. I'd still go with Metallica based on how much St. Anger and Re-Load pale in comparison with classics like Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets. Those albums had songs that were heavy, melodic, and intricate. The stuff the band has been putting out the past ten years has been dull and rote and uninteresting. I wouldn't use the word sell-out either. It's more just a matter of them just not bringing it musically anymore.

Green Day.
I used to like them
Now they are kinda bad...

I'll say Metallica just because they went from having amazing songs on all of their albums to one or two big hits. I don't even care about how some people think they sold out. I'm just basing this off pure quality

actually, i think aerosmith is one of the few bands whose newer music can somewhat compare with their classic, older stuff...it's a little bit different, but for the most part i don't think they've really diverted from their style

as the stones are my favorite full band, it pains me to say that i think they have had the biggest drop...from their earliest work, with out of our heads, aftermath, and everything thereafter all through the early 80s, to their latest album which was a joke, there's light years difference between them

probably Green Day...or Aerosmith...

Skid Row.
How dare you kick out Sabastian Bach.
HOW DARE YOU!

I will go along with the Aerosmith answer, but would like to add Van Halen and KISS they used to be damn good.

yup, metallica--early cd's were start to finish with great songs(i'm listening to "puppets" right now in its entirety), St anger has 2 listenable songs--thats about as big a drop as you could get!!!
