Is there anyway to become a better singer when you are completely awful?!

Question: I'm not talking about being a famous singer quality here, I just love to sing and wish I didn't sound quite so much like dying cats. Would voice lessons help me get to where I am at least decent or is it a lost cause?

Voice Lessons would definitely help. Not everyone is cut out to be a great singer but a good coach will...

1. Be able to tell you what level you are now.

2. Give to instruction on how to improve.

3. Provide feedback on your progress.

It's remarkable what a few tips can do.

Good or bad, you have this desire to improve and owe it to yourself (and anyone within earshot) to seek professional advice.

It wouldn't help you, have to born with a good voice im a horrible singer and i even practiced, and i still sound sh**y

make u are singing within ur range, u wont always sound like famous artists bc they can sing at a very high pitch, lessons would help. and whenever u sing make sure you push from the gut.lol

The only thing that seperates you from famous singers, is that they have found their range. You will know hear Beyonce try to sing a Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin song because that is totally out of her range. Just find your range, and perfect it. Also, have you ever noticed, that when you are by yourself singing a song and feel totally comfortable, you sound have way decent? So, just get comfortable with singing. Dont try to hard, relax, and find your range. After you find YOUR range, you can start seeing how high up you can go, and how far down you can go.

Try doing the Marylin Monroe style- speaking to music. This would hide the fact that you can't sing, and also sound really sexy!

I know how you feel. I wasn't born with a good voice, in fact the way my body is put together anatomically precludes me from being able to have a good voice unless I had trained from an early age.

But since I write my own music I have worked within the limitations of my voice and built a small studio in my bedroom.

I suggest you take lessons with an operatic vocal teacher. They will teach you the proper way to breath and control your voice. Once you start learning that if you practice and work at it you might end up with a good enough singing voice.

I have a short wide neck. That means I need a lot of pressure from my diaphragm to get an opening. I am also a baritone and most music is not recorded by people with that kind of voice.
