Some "old school" Emo bands?!
Question: A few months ago my girlfriend got me listening to bands like Sunny Day real Estate, Death Cab for Cutie, The Get up kids, At-the Drive in, and Mineral. I really enjoy this type of music, but I can't say I like some of the new bands like F.o.B from first to last etc. Could anyone list off some Old school emo bands, (Pre-hot topic) and deep lyrics? Thank you.

Can't say that they're exactly "old school," but The Shins and The Decembrists are somewhat similar to Death Cab. Also try Fugazi, Texas Is The Reason, The Promise Ring, and Sparta. Check out Joy Division too, they're more post-punk but you might like them. And I'm also going to suggest Silversun Pickups just for the heck of it. =]
