One of a couple of reasons;
-You haven't developed the finger strength necessary to hold the string tight enough against the fret to keep it from rattling.
-The action on the strings is too low. Because the bass involves lower frequency sound waves, having the action to low will cause a string to vibrate against another fret. As you say the strings seem a little high this is probably not your issue.
-The neck may be warped a little. The next time you restring it, examine the neck closely while all the strings are off. Set the neck up against a know straight edge & check it out.

As you've just started, I think it's the first reason, that you haven't developed the hand strength yet. Even if you've played guitar for years, bass strings are much thicker & much harder to press up tight to a fret.
Assuming the neck isn't warped or some other physical cause is involved, I'll bet the rattle goes away after a few weeks of constant practice.

Keep at it & good luck!

Tighten the strings!
